CAWES finished the 2010 season with 3 state titles and nearly 30 podiums. In addition to having loads of fun on the bike, CAWES managed to have a few memorable races and finishes:  Alaina Gurski won both the PA State Elite Time Trial AND Master's Time Trial for the second year in a row.  Sarah Iepson finally found the top of the podium in the NJ State Championship Crit.  After finishing 2nd for three years, Sarah took home the win after a 12-lap solo breakaway!  Michelle Hart finished the season as the team's official "Podium Girl" by finishing top 3 in several events during the year including the Grandview Grand Prix in PA and the Jefferson Cup Road Race in VA.

Continuing the tradition of giving back to the community, CAWES once again partnered with Tracy Lea of Team FUJI to promote the annual Special Olympics and Juniors' Day Out race in September 2010.  The team served as officials and course marshalls and brought hundreds of donated items of cycling clothing and equipment to the event to distribute to very excited competitors.  While Alaina organized all the goodies, Michelle cheered on a Special Olympic athlete who was charging around the race course.  As always, a fantastic day that CAWES feels fortunate to be a part of.

At the end of the 2010 season, CAWES met some incredibly inspiring athletes in Pennsylvania at the Grandview Grand Prix.  These individuals were competing in the hand-cycle races and they introduced CAWES to the IM ABLE Foundation.  With its short but focused tagline, "Get Up and Move," the IM ABLE foundation encourages individuals with disabilities to cultivate healthy and active lifestyles.  Created in 2007 by Chris and Gretchen Kaag, the IM ABLE foundation raises money to purchase hand cycles and other modified equipment like racing chairs and adaptive skis.  The members of CAWES woo'ed founder Chris with our sacastic banter and conversation add-ons of "that's what she said."  And thus, the two organizations decided for 2011 to create a partnership built on shared fun, encouragement, a desire to inspire and be inspired, jokes (essential), and the love of cycling.  To donate to the foundation or volunteer your time, please visit IM ABLE at http://www.getupandmove.org/home.php
